Cavan Biggio Traded to Dodgers
Cavan Biggio is heading to Hollywood. As announced by Jeff Passan on X/Twitter earlier today Biggio is going to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Right-handed reliever Braydon Fisher.
Cavan Biggio, 29, is the son of legendary Houston Astros Infielder and Hall of Famer Craig Biggio. The Blue Jays selected Cavan Biggio in the fifth round of the 2016 draft, and he emerged as one of the organization’s better prospects. It looked early in his career to be a potential core member of the Blue Jays moving forward, along with MLB sons Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also being called up in 2019. From 2019-20, Biggio batted .240/.368/.430 with 24 home runs and 20 steals in 159 games.
Bichette and Guerrero became All-Stars over the next few seasons since then. However, Biggio was at the opposite end of the spectrum. Biggio has batted .219/.327/.351 with 24 home runs and 100 RBIs since the 2021 season. Working more as a utilityman and platoon bat for Toronto. Biggio only played over 100 games once since 2021 as well.
Biggio going to the Dodgers should lead to the same platoon role he has been playing. He consistently plays against righties along with his ability to play many positions. Biggio allows for more flexibility within the infield for the Dodgers. Some of their veterans have been struggling and Gavin Lux has not looked good since returning from injury at second base. The bottom third of that lineup is amongst the worst in MLB.
A change of scenery may be just what Cavan Biggio needs. As well as Biggio could be just what the Dodgers are looking for to address some of their issues within this powerhouse of a team.
