Cam Robinson Acquired By Vikings

Per Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings have struck a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire left tackle Cam Robinson. This move makes a lot of sense for Minnesota, as their starting LT, Christian Darrisaw, had season-ending knee surgery last week.

The trade isn’t 100% through yet, as Cam Robinson still needs to pass a physical.

The Vikings also received a 2026 seventh-round pick in the trade. This pick can disappear depending on the amount of time Robinson plays. The Jags received a 2026 fifth-round pick that can be bumped up to a fourth based on Robinson’s playing time.

The 29-year-old Robinson is in the final year of his deal. He stands to make $16.25 Million this season alone. According to ESPN, the Jags will pay a portion of Robinson’s contract.

Just a Pit Stop?

Christian Darrisaw just had knee surgery and is expected to fully recover in time for the 2025-2026 season. Minnesota signed him to a four-year deal in August, likely meaning that Robinson is a short-term solution for Darrisaw’s absence.

Darrisaw had to leave the Viking’s week 8 loss to the LA Rams, and backup David Quessenberry filled in. But postgame, Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell said the team would consider multiple options at the left tackle position the rest of the year.

Cam Robinson enters Minnesota with something to prove, as he was benched in the fourth quarter of the Jaguar’s week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Robinson has a career pass block win rate of 81.7% and is a good player. But he played just nine games last year and has completed just one full season since getting drafted in 2017. Perhaps a change of scenery and getting out of that football wasteland they call Jacksonville will benefit him.

By making this move, the Vikings are saying they truly want to keep competing after an impressive 5-0 start to the year. Although, they have dropped the last two.
