Cam Neely Claims The Bruins Love Taylor Hall

The Bruins traded Taylor Hall to the Chicago Blackhawks. Cam Neely still wants you to know that the Bruins love Taylor Hall. I’m not sure how that works but Neely tried his best to be political about the Hall trade. I don’t know who is buying this answer but we’ll share for comedy reasons.

“We figured if the cap didn’t go up, we were going to have some juggling to do which we unfortunately lose Taylor,” Bruins president Cam Neely told reporters in a team-provided video. “Great player for us. We really loved him as a Bruin. But that’s just you know, we knew that was gonna happen. Unfortunately, the cap didn’t go up like everybody was hoping for, but we kind of anticipated that.”

It’s not a terrible answer but we all know the truth. Neely could have just said they love Tyler Bertuzzi more. All indications point to Bertuzzi being the reason why Hall was dumped. It would have been nearly impossible to re-sign Bertuzzi if Hall’s money stayed on the books. If you gave Neely some truth serum, he would tell you this trade was all about Bertuzzi.

Taylor Hall Is So Overrated

It should also be mentioned that the Bruins are hamstrung by some dead money. The cap overages for Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci made life a lot harder heading into this year with the cap only going up by $1 million.

“We don’t take advantage of that next year either,” Neely said. “We feel pretty good about where we are going into the following year. But it’s just this season right now, we’re trying to piece together.”
