Free agent safety Cam Bynum has signed a four-year, $60 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero first reported Monday.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Jake Arthur, Bynum will have an $18 million signing bonus with $32 million fully guaranteed.
The former fourth-round pick was an integral part to the back-half of Brian Flores’ secondary each of the last two seasons. In 2024, he tallied 96 tackles with 10 pass deflections and a career-high three interceptions; he registered a career-most 134 tackles–including 94 solo–in 2023.
Though what he will most be remembered for is leading the legendary celebrations after turnovers.
Bynum has not missed a game in each of the last three seasons.
The Indianapolis Colts have been busy adding to their secondary in free agency. First-year Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo also added cornerback Charvarius Ward to a three-year, $60 million deal with $35 million guaranteed on Monday.
Nevertheless, he was huge in the Vikings’ locker room. That will sting. We will see what Harrison Smith’s future will be after 13 seasons in the NFL–all with the Vikings. But they will have a hole to fill regardless if it comes in the draft–where they are projected to have just three picks–or over the next several days.
Bynum’s an ascending safety and is now being compensated as such. The Colts’ defense was a disaster last season, so we will see whether or not he will be able to make an impact along their back-seven.
