Former Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau becomes a new studio analyst for NHL Network

After being fired by the Canucks on Jan. 22, Bruce Boudreau joins NHL Network as a studio analyst for the rest of the year, according to the NHL website.

In his stint in Vancouver, Boudreau held a record of 50 wins, 40 losses and 13 overtime losses. He was with the Canucks for only 14 months. Over the course of his career, Boudreau has coached almost 1,100 regular season games in the NHL for several teams. He has coached for the Vancouver Canucks, Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals and Anaheim Ducks. He has a total of 617 wins, 342 losses and 128 overtime losses.

Boudreau will make his debut at 8:00 p.m. ET tonight on NHL Tonight. He also was previously on NHL Tonight from August 2020 to December 2021. Boudreau made comments on his excitement in returning to NHL Tonight.

“I am so happy to be back at NHL Network because the people I got to know are incredible, not only nice, but people who know hockey through and through,” Boudreau said, via NHL’s official website. “I’ve always been part of a team my whole life and this was one of the best that I’ve ever been on, so it was an easy decision for me when they asked if I wanted to come back.”

It was truly a sad scene when Boudreau was fired as tears were in the eyes of the veteran coach’s face. Fans in Rogers Arena thanked the Boudreau as he left the ice, as his firing was inevitable. Everyone in the organization knew that Boudreau was going to be let go by the Canucks. It was fully public and wrongful of them.
