Brock Vandagriff Commits To Kentucky

Former five-star recruit Brock Vandagriff has committed to Kentucky. The now former Georgia quarterback was the No. 17 ranked player and No. 6 ranked quarterback in the transfer portal, according to the 247Sports’ Transfer Portal Rankings.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports first reported the news Wednesday.

Vandagriff was the No. 17 player and No. 4 quarterback in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Vandagriff was buried on Georiga’s stacked quarterback depth chart. In his time in Athens, he has sat behind Stetson Bennett and Carson Beck. With growing optimism that Beck will return to Georgia rather than declare for the NFL Draft, Vandagriff was unlikely to start for the Bulldogs in 2024.

In his limited playing time, Vandagriff went 12-for-18 on passing attempts while throwing for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

Vandagriff redshirted his freshmen season and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Landing Vandagriff is a massive win for Kentucky. The Wildcats recruit at a fair level and trending upward in that realm; however, a five-star recruit rarely walks onto campus in Lexington. It can’t be understated how impactful it is to add a five-star quarterback to the roster. Not to mention, Vandagriff has spent three years developing in one of the top college football programs.

Kentucky was a quarterback-needy team this offseason. Starting quarterback Devin Leary is out of eligibility and backup Kaiya Sheron was evidently not viewed as a starter. Sheron has entered the already entered the transfer portal as well.

Vandagriff should be viewed as an upgrade over Leary. Although, it is difficult to strongly make that claim as he has not proven to be a capable starter at the collegiate level. Still, Vandagriff brings a lot of green flags to Kentucky.
