Brock Purdy Would Have Made No Difference In NFCCG

First things first, the 49ers kicked the Eagles ass. There are no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. They showed up to our house, kicked in the door, and then proceeded to lay the smackdown for 60 minutes. The one thing that I can be happy about, as an Eagles fan, is knowing that Brock Purdy would have made zero difference in the score of the NFC Championship Game (NFCCG).

It Wasn’t Purdy (for the Eagles)

Things started on the right foot for the Eagles. They held the 49ers to -2 yards in the first quarter and, although the stalled in the Red Zone they were making their way up and down the field on offense. Everything was turning up birds.

Unfortunately for the birds, Kyle Shanahan woke up in the second quarter. His team executed (literally put a gun to the Eagles head) on seven straight touchdown drives. That being said, Brock Purdy was not the reason why the 49ers stomped the dog piss out of my beloved Eagles.

Don’t get me wrong Purdy did his thing but rewatch the game, Purdy had one completion over 15 yards. He didn’t attempt any passes over 20 yards.

Again, credit to Purdy. He did his job and took care of his business. For example, this was one hell of a run:

But at the end of the day, a lot of quarterbacks can do what Brock Purdy does. Throw the ball to Deebo Samuel with in 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and let him run for a 42 yard touchdown (and I wont even mention that Ronnie Bell made a hell of a touchdown saving tackle on Reed Blankenship on that play).

Don’t get me wrong, I like Purdy. I think the hate he gets is OD but he is not the reason they win. I saw a tweet yesterday (and like an idiot I didnt bookmark it) that of his 314 yards, like 160 were YAC.

Like I said, no excuses. The Niners punched the Eagles in the mouth. But, at the end of the day this game doesn’t change the outcome of the NFCCG. And, like I said when the Eagles played the Chiefs, there wasn’t enough on the line for this to be a revenge game. All this game did was show the Niners didn’t need Brock Purdy to win the NFCGG and all the 49ers did after that game was make excuses.
