Brock Osweiler will start for the Texans during the wildcard playoff game. During a press conference, head coach Bill O’Brien stated that Osweiler would be in line to start.
The move comes as no surprise as Tom Savage is in the midst of concussion protocol. Even if he is cleared we don’t know how Savage will respond coming off a big blow to the head in week 17.
Osweiler signed a $72 million contract this offseason and has done nothing but disappoint during his tenure with the Texans. Tom Savage was frankly playing better than Osweiler making this decision rather difficult if Savage was cleared to play. T.J. Yates will serve as the backup if Savage is inactive.
Osweiler’s 2016 season has been a complete failure. He threw more interceptions (16) than he did touchdowns (15). Osweiler, 26, will now battle rookie 4th round pick Connor Cook in the playoffs. The game will take place Saturday at 4:35 ET.
