Brian Boyle joins NHL Network as Studio Analyst

After a legendary and memorable career, Brian Boyle will join NHL Network as a studio analyst this season, via NHL Press Release.

Boyle will make his NHL Tonight on Thursday, March 23rd at 8:00 p.m. EST. He will be alongside Jamison Coyle and his former New York Rangers teammate Mike Rupp.

“I’m excited to be part of NHL Network and be involved with hockey and the NHL,” said Boyle, via press release. “Nobody wants to stop playing, but talking about the game I love is something that is really exciting for me.”

“Brian’s a beloved member of the hockey community, who had a fantastic career,” said Josh Bernstein, NHL Network Vice President of Production, via press release. “To have him contributing his wealth of knowledge makes our shows that much stronger as we head towards the best time of the year.”

Across his lengthy 14-year career, Boyle became an NHL ironman. He played in 871 career NHL games, but we did not know Boyle to be a goal scorer. People recognized him for his heart. Boyle posted 141 goals and 111 assists — equating to 252 total points. He also gained a lot of penalty minutes in his time. Across 52,260 minutes in the NHL, Boyle racked up 615 penalty minutes.

They awarded Boyle the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2017-18 for exemplifying the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. Boyle received this award following his diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia. He would go on to lead the Devils to a playoff berth and score a hat trick on “Hockey Fights Cancer Night” on November 5th, 2018.

Boyle has been an inspiration for everyone in the hockey world and will continue to do so as his career goes on. Good luck in the studio, Brian!
