The Boston Celtics have made it back to the NBA Finals, for the second time in three seasons. What looks to be an impending clash with the Dallas Mavericks barring a miraculous Timberwolves comeback. That may have already started with the Timberwolves taking game 4 in Dallas in the Western Conference Finals. The Boston Celtics are four wins away from Banner 18.
In an overall competitive sweep of the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics proved many doubters wrong as they look like an entirely different team from last year. A team that can close out games and not let the game slip away more importantly. Big shots and clutch plays from players like Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Jayson Tatum.
Jaylen Brown walked away with the Eastern Conference Finals MVP for his efforts of 29.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
The Celtics have only lost two games throughout this entire postseason run, after game 4 it marks Kristaps Porzingis’ tenth game missed since sustaining a calf injury in game 4 of the first round vs Miami. However, the Celtics have been a great team for the most part without him in the lineup. The anticipated return of Porzingis brings the Celtics back to that true juggernaut of a basketball team.
Inserting Porzingis back into the Celtics lineup brings this team back to being unfair. We cannot ignore the potential rust he would have returning after such an absence, especially in the finals. Reacclaimating a seven-footer who can knock down threes, score in the post, and block shots to the group that Boston has been able to assemble around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is the best possible problem to have at this point heading into the NBA Finals.
Whether it’s Minnesota or Dallas although both have made great postseason runs the Eastern Conference Champions will be the ultimate test and vice versa for Boston. All that this season has brought for the Celtics this is the closest they have gotten to Championship 18. I am trying to learn within the realm of the NBA sphere why the Celtics are seemingly being doubted now. “We Want Boston” has become the famous last word for fanbases throughout this postseason.
The Celtics are addressing every concern on the path to the finals and people are still unhappy.
A championship may change things or maybe not. In any case, a championship makes you undeniable. The Celtics must finish the job to shut up the noise, a bring the title home whether people like it or not.
