Golden State Warriors president and general manager Bob Myers is stepping down from his role with the team, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
BREAKING: Golden State’s Bob Myers – a two-time executive of the year and architect of four NBA championships — is stepping down as the franchise’s president and general manager, he told ESPN on Tuesday. “It’s just time,” Myers said. pic.twitter.com/r9nkqFOETw

Myers played an instrumental role in creating the Golden State Warriors dynasty. Myers’ 12-year tenure with the Warriors began in 2011 when he was hired as the assistant general manager. In 2012, he was promoted to general manager.
While the Warriors’ core of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were on the roster when Myers arrived, he made subsequent moves to finish creating the dynasty. In 2012, Myers’ first draft as general manager, he selected Draymond Green No. 35 overall. Ahead of the 2014-15 season, he named Steve Kerr the team’s head coach.
Myers won four NBA Championships with the Warriors and was named NBA Executive of the Year twice.
Myers’ contract with Golden State was set to expire in June. Despite ownership’s desire to retain Myers’, he opted to move on from the franchise.
At the moment, it is unclear what the future will look like for Myers. If he opts to continue working as an executive, either now or later, he will be highly pursued. Although, there is a possibility that he takes time away from basketball as well.
Myers’ departure from the Warriors comes at an interesting time for the franchise. The future of Green and Thompson, key pieces from Golden State’s dynasty, is in question. Green has a player option for the 2023-24 season while Thompson’s deal will expire after 2023-24 Additionally, there have been questions surrounding Jordan Poole, due to the fact that next season will be the first of his contract extension.
Myers’ successor will be left to sort out which Warriors will be kept on the roster and which will be let go. Not to mention, the team currently has a historically high payroll in NBA history. It certainly will not be an easy task.
