Velus Jones sucks and if you have an IQ higher than a dead squirrel on the side of the road, you knew that already. Except Ryan Poles is the worst general manager in football and everyone continues to pretend otherwise. I don’t need hindsight bias. Anybody who took Velus Jones in the third round has absolutely no clue what they’re doing. I said it back then. Even the old man said it.
Because the Bears no longer can even put Jones on the field at receiver after adding DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze; Chicago is trying the former USC and Tennessee product out at running back.
“He’s got a lot of talent,” Eberflus said, via Josh Schrock of NBCSportsChicago.com. “He’s open to moving around, again, like we talked about, I think it was maybe last time we visited about, you know, if you’re on the fringe of the roster or a guy that is competing for that fifth, sixth spot at receiver, halfback, whatever it might be, the more you can do. You know, if you’re a four-core guy in special teams, the more you can utilize your talents across your base of the team, I believe that’s a good thing for you, so that’s what he’s doing.”
If the Bears were smart they would cut their losses and recognize this puppy is a sunk cost and it’s never going to turn around. Explain to me how Jones even makes this roster at running back? They signed D’Andre Swift this offseason. They also have Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson… unless Poles is also ready to admit Roschon stinks too?
