Are the Falcons really planning to go into the 2023 NFL Season with Desmond Ridder as the team’s starting quarterback? It is starting to sound like the Falcons are really sold on Ridder leading to team for the foreseeable future. This one is coming straight from the top and Arthur Blank LOVES his young quarterback.
“I love our young quarterback,” Blank said. “I know he only played four games but the trend line during those four games was all good. He didn’t throw the ball to the other team which is a huge factor in winning games. He’s not color blind, so I feel good about where we are and I think our fans should feel that way, honestly.”
Ridder, the Falcons 2022 third round pick, went 73-of-115 for 708 yards and two touchdowns in his four starts. It certainly feels like Ridder will open the 2023 season as the starter based on Blank’s comments. Ridder will never be taken seriously as a franchise quarterback but whatever.
Blank might be starting to go senile in his old age. Who’s taking this team seriously with Ridder and Drake London duo? Welcome to irrelevance.
Marcus Mariota is also under contract but he already gave up on the team a year ago so Atlanta will likely move on. It’s more likely the Falcons find another veteran option behind Ridder given the fact that they don’t make a major splash for someone. There have been Lamar Jackson rumors in the past but maybe if the Falcons are all in on Ridder that’s no longer an option. Things change quickly but for now, it looks like Ridder is the guy moving forward.
