Do Arizona Coyotes Fans Now Root For The Vegas Golden Knights?

The Arizona Coyotes moved to Utah… but who do the fans in Arizona root for now? Those fans must be sick with the young talent like Dylan Guenther, Logan Cooley, etc now thriving in their new location. Fans could opt to now root for the Utah Hockey club, but technically they’re not the closest team to Arizona from a location stand point. That next closest team to Arizona would actually be the Vegas Golden Knights.

It turns out that the VGK are trying everything in their power to grow the fan base. All of the Arizona fans left behind… the VGK are hoping they will root for the Knights going forward. The Golden Knights are expanding their TV rights to ensure people who live in Arizona can watch the team play.

With the partnership with Scripps Sports (available in Phoenix (Channel 61) and Tucson (58) on Cox, DISH Network and DirecTV) those programs air live Utah Hockey Club and 55 Golden Knights games this season.

“With the Coyotes moving to Utah, that opened up the Arizona territory fully for us,” said Eric Tosi, Golden Knights chief marketing officer. “We know that there’s a lot of Golden Knights fans in Arizona. We’ve seen and performed our own research on that, the NHL has provided us data and research on that, too. For us, we see there being a void in the youth hockey community, in the hockey community in general.”

This Golden Knights team just gets everything right. It looks like they’re even trying to schedule future preseason games in Arizona to try to poach more fans. I can’t speak for the Coyotes fans but I’m sure several of them will migrate to rooting for the Golden Knights.
