The transfer portal has been open for two whole days, and it has already been chaotic. Luckily for you, we have you covered with our live tracker, listing over 100 prospects who are in the portal. One name I did not have on my bingo card to enter the portal was Arizona star cornerback Tacario Davis. Davis announced today he would be leaving Arizona with one year of eligibility left. The 6’4 corner should have endless suitors as he is among the top names in the portal in 2024.
Regarded as one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 NFL Draft, the transfer news of Tacario Davis is surprising. Coming into the year, Davis was heralded as a top-five prospect at his position in the draft, and potentially a first-round pick. However, his draft stock took a minor hit as Arizona failed to live up to expectations, finishing the year 4-8. Davis did play well, however, finishing the year with 43 total tackles and six passes defended. Zero interceptions on the year is also considered a letdown, but he did only have one the year prior. Davis will be just 21 entering his final season in college and is beaming with unlimited upside.
Tacario Davis should be looking to make the jump to a powerhouse school in the transfer portal. It only makes sense. I believe he would have been a top-50 pick in the draft this year, and if he goes to a contending team and plays well, he could very easily find his way into first-round consideration in 2026. His lengthy frame and physicality at the line of scrimmage should have teams gushing over the idea of bringing him into their program. Davis has all the tools to be a major factor on a playoff team in 2025, but which team will he be playing for?
