Apex Legends Global Series Year 2 Winners Crowned

The popular battle royale Apex Legends has just wrapped up its Year 2 Apex Legends Global Series. The squad DarkZero took home the Apex Legends Year 2 Global Series title and the massive $2.5 million prize.

The Year 2 series started way back in October 2021 and after a series of qualifiers, challenger circuits, and split playoffs, wrapped up on July 10, 2022. This global series consisted of group stages in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, illustrating the wide reach of the game. However, Apex Legends’ popularity does not end with its players as this Apex Legends Championship Series set the viewership record for the game.

This hero-based third-person shooter was developed by Respawn Entertainment and was released in 2019. This game has two modes that can be played: one is the basic battle royal mode that most players use, and the other is a more competitive arena mode. Apex Legends continues to have new seasons with fresh content such as characters, guns, and maps that are introduced into the game. The developers continue to support the game which has only helped grow the fan base.

The Apex Legends Global Series Year 2 Championship was a success in all aspects from the thrilling gameplay, the total $5 million prize pool, and the overall fan viewership. It was a great end to a magnificent championship as the talented squad DarkZero takes home the title.

Meet The DarkZero Apex Squad

DarkZero is a three-player squad hailing from Australia. The squad consists of the team’s captain Noyan Ozkose whose gamer tag is “Genburten”, Rhys Perry whose gamer tag is “Zer0”, and Rick Wirth whose gamer tag is “Sharky”.

DarkZero, before their amazing championship, had won the Split 2 Playoffs earlier in May 2022. However, in that event captain Ozkose missed due to having COVID-19, but DarkZero found a replacement in Jake Walters whose gamer tag is “Jmw”.

DarkZero has now made history with their accomplishments and they will go down as a legendary Apex Legends squad.
