Will Anthony Edwards actually play in the NFL? If you ask the Timberwolves superstar, he says it’s a real possibility. Well, after he wins an NBA championship first, obviously.
During a recent interview with comedian Marco Summers’ show “Open Thoughts, Edwards explained that he loves football and wants to play in the NFL eventually.
“First I gotta handle my business in the NBA,” Edwards said. “As a team, Minnesota organization, we want to win a championship. And after that, we’ll figure that out.”
As things stand right now, the Timberwolves are the number one seed in the West with a record of 11-3. Edwards clearly has a lot to do with that. The former Georgia product is averaging 26.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists through 14 games on the season. He’s also shooting 46.7% from the floor and 38.9% from deep.
Edwards, 22, already got his money by signing a max extension this Summer. It’s worth mentioning because at some point this guy will have more money than he knows what to do with. If he wants to leave the NBA behind to give the NFL a try, it won’t be for financial reasons.
This seems like a long shot, but let’s give Edwards this. He grew up in Georgia and that state always produces really good football players. Just go look at their college football team for all the evidence you need on that.
I have no idea what position Edwards would play but I’m here for it. Maybe after he gets too sick of playing with Rudy Gobert, Edwards will take his talents to the NFL.
