Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark ‘Excited’ To Team Up For All-Stars

The race for WNBA Rookie of the Year is really only a race between two candidates: Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Despite Clark being a heavy favorite, Reese is still working hard enough to keep her name in the conversation. Both are the only rookies selected for this year’s WNBA All-Star game.

Despite their rivalry, which began during their storied college careers, Clark and Reese are looking forward to teaming up.

Reese told ESPN she was “excited” that fans finally had a chance to root for both players, instead of against one or the other. She thinks their pairing is what “everyone wants to see.” Clark echoed the excitement, saying she believes their matchup will be “good for the W(NBA).” Clark also took the moment to recognize her rival’s greatness, saying Reese is “obviously having an incredible year.”

Both rookies are having exemplary seasons. Reese is fighting for the WNBA lead in rebounds, trailing fellow All-Star A’Ja Wilson by only one board. Clark is dominating with assists, leading the league 8.2 per game and 213 overall.

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s rivalry is one of the best things the WNBA could have ever asked for. Caitlin Clark received the top nod this year with over 700,000 votes, more than seven times what A’Ja Wilson received last year.

Reese received 381,000, surprisingly only good for fifth place in total votes. Fans can tune in at 5:30 today to watch the WNBA All-Stars take on the USA Women’s Olympic basketball team. The Olympic squad, featuring former WNBA All-Stars like Diana Taurasi and Britney Griner, has garnered some criticism for leaving Caitlin Clark off the team.
