Kobe Prentice is a big play waiting to happen but was never really utilized as much as some expected in his first two seasons at Alabama. When Kalen DeBoer came to town, many expected him to make that jump, pending he could stay healthy. However, injuries have riddled his season. After posting just 11 receptions for 129 yards and one touchdown, Prentice announced he would be entering the transfer portal, just weeks before Alabama could be making a run at a National Championship.
Kobe Prentice, the former no. 11 wide receiver in his class and the no. 72 overall recruit, should have a number of suitors waiting to talk to him. Prentice is good with the ball in his hands and can break open a game in an instant. He showcased his big play ability during his first two seasons, posting 49 receptions for 651 yards and four touchdowns. Do I believe he has the potential to transfer into a program and become their top option? Maybe not. But that shouldn’t take away from the ability and talent he could bring to a program. He would make a stellar WR2 on most teams.
Kobe Prentice entering the transfer portal might come as a shock to some, however, it appears he does not have a real role in Kalen DeBoer’s offense, plus with Jalen Milroe departing and question marks surrounding who will replace him, he will look to head to greener pastures. I could see him making a move out West to a faster-paced offense, or moving over to the ACC. I believe Prentice could become a difference maker, but we all know that situation matters, and it shouldn’t be about moving to the biggest program but who will fit him the best.
