Akylin Dear, No. 2 RB In 2025 class, Commits To Alabama

It seems that new Head Coach Kalen DeBoer is having no issue getting top prospects to Alabama, as they just landed their fourth top-30 prospect in Running Back Akylin Dear. Dear had originally committed to Ole Miss before reopening his recruitment. 

Dear, from Quitman High School in Quitman, Mississippi, stands 6’ and 205 lbs, had also strongly considered staying in the state but attending Mississippi State before ultimately landing with the Crimson Tide. The Tide currently holds the second overall recruiting class for 2025 behind Ohio State. 

Akylin Dear had this to say about his commitment to Alabama. Full quote via ESPN.com:

“I’m excited to be a part of an elite organization that is going to compete every year and strive to win a national championship,” Dear told ESPN. “I’m going to be able to say I play for Alabama Crimson Tide, which is probably one of the greatest programs ever in the history of college football. Being able to follow in the footsteps of so many greats and accepting the challenge to be elite above all other things has always been my overall goal.“

There is no shortage of talent incoming for DeBoer and the Crimson Tide. I will admit I had slight concern Alabama would lose a little luster after Nick Saban’s retirement, but it would appear that the program is very much alive and well, and primed to be serious contenders in the SEC for years to come. We saw what DeBoer was able to do with Michael Penix Jr. last season, if we can have similar success turning around Jalen Milroe, you best believe more five-star prospects like Akylin Dear will flock to Tuscaloosa.
