Agent For Kurtis Rourke Says QB Played All Season On Torn ACL

Football is already such a physically demanding sport to play as it is. You could argue it is the most physical sport out there. So, naturally, playing an entire season on a torn ACL you’d imagine would be nearly impossible, right? Well, according to the agent of Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke, he did just that.

When speaking to reporters on Friday, the agent for Kurtis Rourke, who tore his ACL in 2022, felt the same feeling of the injury during the summer but played all season through it. Now that the Indiana season has come to an end, the injury has been confirmed. Rourke was second-team All-Big Ten and led the Hoosiers to a berth in the College Football Playoff, but would lose to Notre Dame 27-17.

Think about that for a second. The most important position in sports, in the most physically demanding sport in the world, playing all season long on a torn ACL. That is the kind of injury that ends seasons and can end careers potentially, and Kurtis Rourke played on it all season long. The kind of toughness that requires I want on my team in some capacity. Rourke is expected to be drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft (profile to come) and if I had a late day-three pick I would 100% use it on Rourke just to bring that toughness to my locker room.

It’s not totally unheard of to play an entire season on a torn ACL, but it is very rare. During his freshman season at Clemson, Deshaun Watson played the entire season with a torn ACL. I’m sure NFL teams are going to have questions as to why Rourke failed to tell anyone about his injury, or hid it from his teammates, and how the knee is feeling during the pre-draft process. But if I was in an NFL front office, the toughness that is required outweighs the decision to not disclose the injury.
