AEW is no stranger to hiring its share of wrestling legends, which is important for every company to have, especially when you are a new one. This is an idea that goes beyond wrestling and into team sports. Every team should have veterans of the sport to help guide the younger talents. AEW has the likes of Sting, Chris Jericho, Arn Anderson, Jerry Lynn and Billy Gunn, to name a few. But the company may be bringing in another veteran of the sport: X-Pac.
Per Haus of Wrestling, AEW has reportedly reached out to X-Pac about joining the company. The former wrestling legend would potentially be doing something with Billy Gunn; Billy Gunn and X-Pac were in the extremely popular WWE faction, Degeneration X.
However, there aren’t any specifics in terms of what he would do in AEW, but X-Pac reportedly did not want to join AEW as a one-off appearance. In the meantime, he has reportedly been getting into in-ring shape — being in shape and being in in-ring shape are two completely different things. Anyone who has ever wrestled will tell you that. Furthermore, those close to X-Pac reportedly stated that they would not be surprised if he showed up in AEW.
X-Pac is a wrestling legend and an iconic character in the business. He was a part of not one, but two of the most influential wrestling factions of all time. He’s a former European and Cruiserweight Champion in WWE and WCW.
With as much experience as he does, any company would be honored to have someone like him on their roster. It’s essential to have wrestling veterans on your roster so they can help coach the next generation, especially if you have a young roster, like AEW does.
