New Indianapolis Colts wide receiver explains why he took jersey number 10 for himself when drafted by the Colts.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, there were 10 more wide receivers selected in front of Mitchell, who was the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and he uses that as motivation to remind himself — with seven receivers being taken in the first round alone.
“I was up late just thinking about it,” Mitchell said. “I couldn’t get it off my mind. I was like, yeah, bro, let me get 10.”
“Nobody got a name, nobody got a face,” Adonai Mitchell said, via Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star. “I’m not bitter about it or anything like that. Definitely, congratulations and happy for the people that got picked, but at the end of the day, it was between me and them, and they got picked. It’s all motivation.”
Adonai Mitchell wore the number five while at Texas, but the number is currently being used by quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Vendetta ranked Mitchell as the fifth-best wide receiver in this year’s draft class, but NFL scouts seem to think he was 11th best and let him slide to 52nd overall.
Mitchell, 21, played three seasons of collegiate football at the University of Georgia and Texas. He registered a total of 1405 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, with his last year at Texas being his most productive with 845 receiving yards and 11 TDs.
Adonai Mitchell was one of nine players the Indianapolis Colts drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. Read Vendetta’s draft grades about how the Colts did!!!!
