When you think of Penn State EDGE Rushers, your mind probably immediately goes to Chop Robinson, and for good reason. But the Nittany Lions are sending out a second pass rusher in the 2024 NFL Draft in Adisa Isaac. Isaac kind of flew under the radar this past season and put up some decent numbers, but what does his draft profile look like? Let’s talk about it.
Isaac, a former four-star recruit, played all four years in Happy Valley, really only getting good run in his final two seasons after tearing his Achilles in the 2021 season. Isaac saw a nice jump in production from his Junior to Senior season, where he went from four sacks to 7.5, including posting a career-high in tackles with 37.
Adisa Isaac has some quickness to him you can’t deny. He does a good job flipping those hips to get inside on stunts. I noticed him use the swim move a ton on the sack tape I saw. Does a good job getting a hand up into the chest of his linemen and quickly getting around after contact. Lined up both standing up and in a three-point stance this last season. He’s also fairly strong as well, so not just a one-trick pony. Footwork is clean and gets off the line quickly. Above average to good play recognition.
Isaac struggles against the run, there’s just no two ways about it. Seems like he gets happy feet and leaves his gap too often. The knee bend is fine but I think he can get a fair bit lower which will really let those hips pop. Some believe he wasn’t as quick after his Achilles surgery, but I think the play speed is exactly where you want it right now. Being paired with someone like Chop Robinson takes some of the heat off of whoever is also rushing, so I am curious to see how he would perform against more attention.
I don’t think I am as high on Adisa Isaac as some of the talking heads are, but I think he possesses really nice upside. I have a third-round grade on him, and would love to get him into camp and cling to a vet to really soak in knowledge like a sponge. I believe Isaac is just scratching the surface and could turn into a really nice pro.
