In an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Dana White teased that Adam Sandler is developing a comedy show about working in the UFC offices.
In addition to White’s comments regarding Sandler, he also added that the UFC is developing a behind-the-scenes documentary about the company.
“It’s not easy to just whip out a documentary and do it,” White explained. “But we’re doing a deal right now with Roku where we’re filming a documentary behind the scenes of the UFC, that will come out later this year. [It’s about] the whole business. You guys will see all the behind the scenes.”
“We’re working on that [documentary], we’re also working on a show right now with Adam Sandler that’s a comedy about working in the offices of the UFC,” White said.
White did not explain Sandler’s involvement in the UFC comedy, though it would not be surprising to see Happy Madison Productions, Sandler’s production company, work on the project.
The real question will be if Sandler will act in the product. Sandler has a ton of experience working in sports movies, starring in Hustle, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Longest Yard and more. Furthermore, Happy Madison Productions played a role in the production of Here Comes The Boom, which is one of the biggest MMA movies on the market.
Sandler has been at the top of the comedy game for years now. Regardless of the exact details of this series, if Sandler is involved, the show will probably be a success. The idea of working in an office that runs the top MMA promotion provides a lot of comedic potential.
At this point, the show seems to be fairly early in development and there is no clear release date.
