The Los Angeles Rams made a surprising playoff appearance in 2017. Jared Goff also took a huge step forward, mainly because of Sean McVay’s brilliance. Whether Goff can continue that momentum remains to be seen. The Rams defense figures to be even better after Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, and Ndamukong Suh. With Wade Phillips running that defense, the Rams figure to be one of the scarier teams again in 2018. With that being said, what can we expect from the Los Angeles Rams during the 2018 NFL Draft?
Holding the 23rd pick in the first round, it will be interesting to see what they do consider the number of trades they have made. The Rams have five 6th round picks but no 2nd or 5th round picks. Les Snead has been uber aggressive in the draft and that may opt the Rams to even trade up. If the Rams stay pat, they have to target an edge rusher. Connor Barwin isn’t cutting it. Sam Hubbard of Ohio State could be a target. Hubbard has the ability to stand up as a former high school safety. Hubbard notched 7 sacks this past year and should be a solid player.
LA also needs to find themselves a linebacker at some point. Micah Kiser could be the replacement for Alec Ogletree after they dealt him to the Rams. Kiser is a really smart player and won the academic Heisman for college football players in 2017. Kiser also has some natural pass rush to him reeling in 5 sacks along with 145 tackles. Kiser also recorded 4.5 pass deflections which shows he can make plays droppoing back into coverage.
