Following the passing of legendary actor Ray Liotta, there has been an enormous outpouring of support for him, his work and his family, with fans of his films and video games wanting to relive the Liotta nostalgia. But one group of fans has taken it a step further, releasing a “trailer” for GTA: Vice City 2, a concept trailer for a re-mastered rendition of the popular title.
The trailer shows off the graphical improvements courtesy of the Unreal Engine 5. In it, the trailer compares locations and places between the original Vice City and the fan concept of Vice City 2. The trailer expresses a lot of emotions, which, for a trailer that has no original lines, is done very well. All and all, it’s a great tribute to Liotta and the game as a whole.
For all intents and purposes no, we will likely never see an official sequel. With Liotta’s passing, the possibility of a sequel has been lost, unless Rockstar wants to try and use deepfake software to replicate his voice.
Fans do have an option in terms of a re-master with the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition. Though from the reviews, players and fans would be better off staying away from that version.
Still, regardless on whether or not a sequel, a fan-made project, or some other version of a Vice City 2 releases, this trailer made by fans, for fans, shows off all the love and support they have for Vice City and Liotta.
Rest in peace Ray Liotta, you are definitely missed.
