Is Jordan Addison the best wide receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft? There is no clear cut answer to that question but the USC product has a really good shot at that claim. After a spectacular final season at USC, what should you expect from Addison at the NFL level? Let’s check out his 2023 NFL Draft profile!
It’s safe to say that Addison made the right call when he decided to transfer from Pittsburgh. what a year it was. The Addison / Caleb Williams connection was magical all season. Being at USC certainly helped Addison’s stock. We saw the things he was capable of and never risked having shaky QB play at Pitt. Even at Pitt, we saw the talent. He won the Biletnikoff Award for a reason while still at Pitt. He also was a four star recruit so it’s not like Pitt unearthed some diamond under the rough.
Those who have been reading my stock report notes probably know by now how I’m feeling on this one. Addison feels very similar to Calvin Ridley in so many ways. Bit of a thin frame but so smooth. Ridley’s 40 time was a touch faster and might have more wiggle. However, that same sort of prototype is there. Runs really good routes with plus speed that should turn into a really high quality starter for the team that drafts him.
The biggest red flag here is the strength. You’re always playing with fire on smaller receivers. Addison checks in at about 173 pounds and we saw first hand what happens we he goes against a rock solid corner that wins with physicality. Clark Phillips got the best of him most of the night at the Pac 12 Championship game.
Overall I have a second round grade on Addison. I don’t think he’s as failproof as Ridley or DeVonta Smith coming from Alabama type of recruiting background and overall talent. However, I do feel good about Addison becoming a productive player. He’s going to get open and make big plays. Is Jeremy Maclin disrespectful comp?
