Oh boy, they have started a new Paul Pierce rumor. Recently, the NBA legend has again attested to not using the bathroom during his infamous wheelchair game. Via WEEI.
The infamous Pierce wheelchair game happened in Game 1 of the 2008 NBA finals, and it still remains one of the biggest rumors in NBA history. But has the former NBA superstar uncovered all the rumors?
In a recent Showtime basketball interview with Boston Celtics current and former players, Pierce chatted about that game. Pierce talked alongside Celtics players, Kevin Garnett, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum. Brown tried to question Pierce on what actually happened in that game.
“I want to know what happened in the playoffs when you had to get in the wheelchair,” he said, via WEEI.
In 2019, Pierce confessed to using the bathroom instead of being injured. “I had to go to the bathroom, something went down, I had to go to the bathroom,” he said at the time. Via WEEI. Rumors quickly disappeared on this incident when Pierce finally fessed up to the incident. But, in the interview, Pierce answered Brown’s question.
“I sprained my MCL, and the doctor said ‘No, no, no, don’t put no weight on it,’” said Pierce. “I’m like, ‘Alright, I’m going to stand up.’ He’s like, ‘Don’t put no weight on it.’ Then they carried me. I didn’t ask for that. I didn’t say ‘go get the wheelchair.’” Via WEEI. Safe to say, Tatum and Brown didn’t believe a single thing that Pierce said.
The NBA legend would eventually return to that infamous game in great fashion. Pierce potted seven out of his last 10 shots in a return to finish with 22 points to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers.
