Lil Keed – Keed Talk To ‘Em 2
To kick off New Music Friday is Lil Keed’s first posthumous album Keed Talk To ‘Em 2. I’m not going to lie, mildly surprised about how good this turned out. The features for the most part performed well. These features paired with Lil Keed offering a nice versatility of pace allowed for a stimulating listen. Implementing these features of the album provided a pretty easy listen. Nothing bad about the project besides the hour-long play time.
Beautiful ending to the first posthumous album from the rapper. “Thank You Lord” ft Fridayy is a mesh between song and dialogue that explains the album’s meaning to the artist.
Definitely would give this a listen this New Music Friday, especially tracks like “How Many” ft Offset, “All I Wanna Know” ft Young Thug, and “Lost My Trust” ft Cordae.
Lil Pump – Lil Pump 2
Lil Pump also took me by surprise with his self-titled project Lil Pump 2. He utilizes the same style of Trippie Redd, meshing hip hop and rock. However, to my surprise, he also provided tracks with a much slower flow where he sings in a mellow rap style.
Songs such as “Tesla” ft Smokepurpp, “I Don’t Mind” ft YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and “She Know” ft Ty Dolla $ign offer a nice variation of the styles he implements within the album.
EST Gee – Mad
Mad sounds like a diss album through and through. Not in the sense of a specific person, although it could be that, but more of a general diss to EST Gee’s ops.
Speaking of, the rapper came with some of his best performances in this album. It feels like a good middle ground between Key Glocks Glockoma 2 and Big Scarr’s The Secret Weapon.
EST Gee just brings a darker aroma with this album which fits nicely considering the name of the project. The only problem with this project is the lack of variation. In my opinion, the tracks are very similar to each other in aspects of production and flow. However, this changes with the last three songs.
T-Pain – On Top Of The Covers
T-Pain has synonymously been paired with auto-tune his whole career. He started it because no one else was doing it at the time, however, that has now since changed as it is almost everywhere. This criticism has pushed him to release this cover album of his pure voice, and it is beautiful. Here’s the track list of the covers.

Metro Boomin – Creepin’ (Remix)
Maybe I’m just not a big fan of remixes but the original is easily better. The verse from Diddy just felt like an extra piece to an already-finished masterpiece. Would not recommend a listen on this New Music Friday.
Pi’erre Bourne – Honeyberry 2
Compared to the first “Honeyberry” this single has a faster pace and more intricate lyrics. Other than that, the production is somewhat the same.
In the end, this sequel took the first one and made huge additions to it to make it its own song. Can see the growth within the five years of Pi’erre Bourne just from listening to the two songs.
Ni’jah – Sticky ft. Childish Gambino
Childish Gambino taps into his inner “Redbone” with his amazing vocal performance. Pairing this voice with a very happy and cheerful production and background singers made this performance give off a drug influenced aroma. It’s different, it’s weird, but it also works.
Russ – Nasty
Russ is feeling freaky this New Music Friday with his release of “Nasty”. This very explicit song details the events of sex between another partner and how he wants them to “take it nasty”.
Doechii – What It Is (Block Boy) ft. Kodak Black
Doechii absolutely crushed her performance on this single with Kodak Black. She easily outshined Kodak and provided one of my favorite singles of New Music Friday.
Desiigner – PMR ft. A Boogie Wit da Hoodie
I did not like this collaboration. To be completely honest there isn’t a specific reason other than, it just did not sound like it worked. This is the most disappointing of this New Music Friday.
