Wow, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been buzzing at the NHL trade deadline this year. Thanks to general manager Kyle Dubas, the Leafs continue to grab pieces of their championship puzzle. Newly acquired Leaf Ryan O’Reilly seems very happy with his new team making these moves, according to theScore.
During this year’s NHL trade deadline, the Maple Leafs have been all over the place. Dubas is looking to need a few more phones because he is rolling in trades. O’Reilly has invested in the Leafs ever since he stepped foot in Toronto. With the Eastern Conference being so packed, the Leafs are going all out to get some help and O’Reilly is quite pleased with it.
“We’re all-in,” said Ryan O’Reilly per Sportsnet, Via theScore. “That’s the group and the consensus around. Like I said before, that’s an exciting thing. We’ve got a great team here and a lot of good pieces. It’s time to put in the work and start building it.”
Dubas made an astonishing five trades already before this deadline and it looks like he’s not stopping anytime soon. So far, O’Reilly has been the biggest addition to the Leafs roster before this trade deadline. They also added Luke Schenn, Erik Gustafsson, Jake McCabe, Sam Lafferty and more.
Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe made comments on Dubas’ moves this trade deadline.
“Kyle has looked at our team and has been really honest about it,” Keefe said, via theScore. “He’s tried to figure out ways we can get better, and he’s been aggressive with it. So I don’t think there’s any doubt we’ve improved in our depth and our competitiveness at both forward and defense.”
