Kazmeir Allen 2023 NFL Draft Profile

We already have our first draft profile done for the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s draft season and we’re not messing around here. UCLA gadget guy Kazmeir Allen is next up on the list. What do you need to know about Allen and should he be on your draft board in April?

I’ll just be blunt here since I have no other way to put this. Kazmeir Allen is undraftable to me. What are we really looking at here is the question? Maybe world track speed should get you drafted, but I’m not sure what other positive there is to look at here. Allen is fast but is he a good football player?

Is spending draft capital on a returner a wise investment? Maybe? I think that’s probably what you’re looking at with the UCLA product. At least, in year one and two on a best case scenario. Don’t get me wrong, this is real speed. At UCLA, Allen had a brief stint on the Track and Field team. Allen competed in the 100 m dash and posted a time of 10.61.

Allen got an invite to the East-West game but didn’t really do much during the game. At the Shrine Bowl, Allen had six carries for 11 yards. Looked small and out of place. Allen checks in at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds and just doesn’t resemble an NFL caliber back. He also played mostly receiver at UCLA so I was confused to see him get so much run in the backfield. A move that doesn’t make sense.

Yes, Allen was recruited as a running back. Actually, a four-star recruit if you can believe it. Allen received 15 total carries in 2022 and that’s while playing for Chip Kelly. A guy who loves small backs like De’Anthony Thomas. Another guy who was simply too small to make it as an NFL running back. Except in this case, Thomas is way more talented than Allen.

I have no idea why Allen declared for the draft when he had another year of eligibility. 2022 was by far Allen’s best reeling in 49 receptions for 403 yards and two touchdowns. His best game was against USC when he caught that long touchdown.

As a former running back, Allen is still figuring things out as a receiver. Another year in school would have really helped him. Is there a real route tree here? Yes, you can send him deep but what else is there? Show me the list of 170 pound receivers that really make it. It essentially doesn’t exist.

Kazmeir Allen wasn’t invited to the scouting combine and it’s because at this point he’s mostly a return guy with a handful of receiving production. It’s not good enough and Allen is still a really raw product that comes with the red flag of being too small.
