The Canucks Are Flirting With Rick Tocchet

Paul Bissonnette might be juicing Rick Tocchet with Pink Whitney’s on the TNT broadcast but the former Coyotes head coach is thirsty for more. The Canucks are flirting with Tocchet and they couldn’t be more obvious in doing so.

It seems like only a matter of time before Tocchet is the lead man behind the bench in Vancouver. The Canucks are a mess and Bruce Boudreau’s days are numbered. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting that when the Canucks do make their coaching change, it’s expected to be Tocchet.

“We’ve been talking the last few days about Rick Tocchet and the possibility of him there,” he said Saturday. “When and if the coaching change comes, I do believe it’s going to be Rick Tocchet.”

In roughly six years of action as a head coach, Tocchet carries a .475 points percentage. That’s while as the head man for Tampa Bay and Arizona. That’s well below Boudreau’s career mark of .628. There is no guarantee this change fixes anything going on there in the Pacific Northwest.

During the VGK broadcast yesterday, Gary Lawless mentioned how the Canucks have already interviewed Tocchet. He also wasn’t on TNT at all this past week. This time table would sort of line up considering that TNT has a four-week notice clause in the TV commentators contract. Roughly around the time the NHL All-Star Weekend premiers. The perfect time during the break to make the switch.

At least try to play it cool, Canucks! Your flirting so bad with Tocchet and everyone can see it. Put it back in your pants! Does Boudreau deserve better? Maybe the Canucks have a thing for bald guys? I’m not sure the next bald guy can turn this thing around. It’s time for a rebuild. Tank for Connor Bedard!
