Leon Edwards, Kamaru Usman Trilogy Booked for UFC 286

The trilogy fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman is official. At the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference, Dana White announced that Edwards will look to defend his UFC welterweight title against Usman at UFC 286 in London, England on March 18.

Oh, and not to mention, the co-main event will feature a lightweight bout between Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev. That fight has fight of the year written all over it which is why I said it was one of the best fights the UFC could make in 2023.

Let’s be honest, everyone knew this fight was going to happen when the UFC announced that UFC 286 was going to take place in London. It takes two brain cells to realize the newly crowned English champion would be the main event. Nonetheless, it is official now.

This was clearly the fight to make. Usman was on the verge of making history before Edwards completed one of the greatest comebacks of all time with a head kick that was awarded the Vendetta Sports Media KO of the year. It also right for these two to face off in the octagon again.

At the moment, the Edwards vs. Usman score sits at one-to-one. Edwards’ win at UFC 286 was the more impactful of the two as he walked away with the welterweight championship. Meanwhile, Usman picked up a win in 2015 which was before either fighter reached ranked status.

UFC 286 will have a great affect on each fighter’s legacy. Can Usman right the biggest wrong of his career? Will Edwards prove his crowning moment was not a fluke? Only one of the two can add another massive win on his resume. Unless they tie- which would absolutely suck.
