Blaine Gabbert Rescues 4 people in Helicopter Crash

Blaine Gabbert has found himself in the news but not for the reason you may think. The career backup QB also seems to have a knack for rescuing people.

Thursday morning, Hunter Hupp and his parents took a Helicopter ride to the beaches of Davis Island. But around 200 yards off the coast, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in the water after hearing a loud noise from the rotor.

Hupp’s parents and the pilot were able to quickly exit the helicopter, while Hupp struggled to escape for over a minute. The four then trod water as they decided if they should swim back to shore and stay and wait for help.

However, while making the said decision, they saw two people on jetskis approach them. One of them, as confirmed by Hupp and Buccaneer sources, was backup QB for the Bucs, Blaine Gabbert. The two then loaded up the family and pilot and attempted to figure out a way to bring back all the people in one trip.

Hunter Hupp had this to say about the rescue

“They slowly brought us back to the shore, a sandy beach near the yacht club, and hung out for a while, were really nice,” “We exchanged pleasantries upon reaching flat ground. They were really an asset to helping us out, because we were the only ones out there for a while. It was a handshake and a huge ‘Thank you so much.’ They went out for a nice afternoon ride and just happened to come upon a stranded helicopter family.”

So for the Hupp family, it sounds like it was just a right place, right time situation. Had Gabbert and his friend not been out on the water who knows what would have happened to the family and pilot? Thanks to the legend Blaine Gabbert, they don’t have to worry about that.

Although Gabbert has been a backup QB for 12 years and has made quite the living for himself. It looks like he’s already found his job post-NFL as a lifeguard. He’s now got quite the resume and I’m sure the Hupp family would give him a glowing recommendation.

Both Gabbert and Tom Brady have houses in the Davis Islands. So maybe come retirement time the 2 of them can spend their days patrolling the waters and rescuing anyone who needs saving. Because who wouldn’t want to see the face of Tom Brady and Blaine Gabbert after a potentially life-ending situation?
