Remaining NFL Hot Seat Coaches: Who Should Be Gone Next?

So far we have seen two head coaches get fired this season, but who else in the NFL is on the hot seat? These coaches need to be concerned.

Nathaniel Hackett

This first one should come as a surprise to no one as the first NFL hot seat head coach on this list is Nathaniel Hackett. The reason Hackett is on the hot seat is very simple. This offense has been a massive disappointment, and they just cannot get rid of Russell Wilson. That contract makes Wilson untradeable and uncuttable until 2026 at the earliest. Denver would still be eating over $31 million in dead cap hits if they cut him then. They cannot change their quarterback, so they have to end up changing their coach.

Kliff Kingsbury

Kliff Kingsbury is just a bad coach. When you look at how the Cardinals have done just in terms of their end-of-year record, they have steadily improved throughout the Kliff Kingsbury era. The primary year that banjaxes that trend is this year with the DeAndre Hopkins suspension and Kyler Murray’s injury. However, this trend of starting hot and collapsing remains a constant in Kliff Kingsbury’s career. A change is needed.

Todd Bowles

Although Todd Bowles being fired is a bit of a longshot, he should absolutely be on the hot seat. His in-game decision-making is worthy of this, and the coaching staff in Tampa Bay has taken on the identity of someone who is scared. Not going for the win late in regulation with Brady against the Browns out of fear that Tom freaking Brady would throw an interception is laughable. I know Bruce Arians wanted Bowles to get this situation, but what he has managed to do with it should put him on the hot seat. He deserves the criticism Arians would have gotten for the same decisions because he just took his spot. Bowles did not go somewhere new, we should judge him like we would have judged Arians and most people would put Arians on the hot seat for how this year has gone. Bowles deserves the same.

Overall, we’ve seen some bad head coaching performances this year. These coaches should be cautious for their jobs because they simply have underperformed. That alone has to be enough to be in hot water in the NFL, they expect nothing but the best. If you cannot deliver, you will be on the hot seat. The coaches in this post should not be an exception.
