We are officially past the halfway point of the 2022 NFL Season. We begin the Week 10 slate with the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers, which isn’t the prettiest slate on paper. While you quibble with your final lineup changes or potential bets — let’s go over some possible Week 10 breakouts! But first, how’d we do in Week 9?
If we were to eliminate Rodgers, that was one of the best weeks of the season! Let’s build off it — let’s jump into Week 10’s breakout candidates!
Jaylen Warren, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
No, Najee Harris hasn’t been completely benched, yet. But the 24-year-old running back is expected to see lower usage this upcoming week against the New Orleans Saints. Warren plans to get a bulk of those secondary touches; he’s rushed for 153 yards on 5.3 yards per carry this season, so he’s shown flashes to be a quality runner already! The Saints are a middle-of-the-pack rush defense (16th in rush defense DVOA), so I — and Steelers fans and Harris/Warren fantasy owners — are interested in seeing not only how many touches he’ll receive, but what he will do with said touches. Nevertheless, he’s primed to break out.
Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions
This isn’t the first time I’ve had Goff on this list. After a red-hot start to the 2022 season, he’s cooled off. He still threw for two touchdowns against Green Bay last week, but completed only 54 percent of his 26 attempts for 137 yards with an interception — equaling a 78.5 passer rating, his third-worst of the season. He will be going up against a frisky (?) Bears squad on the road this week, who have been inconsistent on the back-end. Goff’s due for a breakout week!
Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons
This is the umteenth time I’ve had at least one Thursday night player on this list. That wasn’t always on purpose, but this week it is because of who it’s for. Kyle Pitts has long been the butt of many fantasy jokes because of how unproductive he’s been. That’s not always his fault, but fantasy owners don’t care! He’s logged two touchdowns over the last four weeks — doubling his 2021 touchdown total! — but had just two catches for 27 yards last week. Now he goes up against a shaky Carolina defense. Weird stuff happens on Thursday’s — maybe we can talk Pitts into garnering another one!
Kadarius Toney, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Toney, who was traded from the New York Giants at the trade deadline, and just two catches for 12 yards and played just nine percent of the snaps on Sunday night. Expect him to player a higher snap share and possibly breakout against Jacksonville in Week 10 — though I wouldn’t be starting him unless you’re in bye week hell in a very deep league!
