James Harden To Miss One Month With Injury

Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden is expected to miss the next month of the season due to an apparent foot injury, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Harden suffered a tendon strain in his right foot that will keep him sidelined for at least the time being.

Up until this point, the 33-year-old guard has been productive to start the season for the 76ers. Harden is averaging 22 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds per game this season through the first 9 games of the year. After getting off to a slow start this year, the 76ers have won 3 of their last 4 games. This new injury to Harden will only slow the momentum that the 76ers had to this point.

In Wednesday’s game, Harden scored 24 points and added 10 assists. His effort proved not to be enough however as the 76ers dropped the game to the Wizards. This was partially due to the fact that the 76ers were without star big man Joel Embiid, as he is currently battling a case of the flu. There is no current timetable for Embiid’s return. Coach Doc Rivers feels that it is best to keep Embiid away from the team for the time being.

Harden’s injury proved to come at a costly time. With the team missing Embiid due to illness and now Harden due to injury, the upcoming stretch of games will prove to be difficult. It will be especially difficult considering their upcoming schedule. The 76ers have 5 games in the next 10 days and will be without at least one of their stars for all of them.

With the injury to Harden, the 76ers will be forced to make some adjustments in the lineup. Upon the return of Embiid, the sixers will look to him to lead the team offensively. For at least the next month, Embiid will be carrying a heavy load as he attempts to lead the sixers through a tough stretch of games.
