November Baseball Is Here Once Again and It’s Ever So Exciting
November isn’t normal for baseball. The sport is a staple of spring, summer and early fall. The later into the year you get, the colder it gets meaning it’s unsuitable for baseball (especially on the East Coast and the Midwest). This year’s Fall Classic has dipped into the 11th calendar month, and it’s a site to behold.
The 2022 World Series is the eighth World Series to take place in November. It is seemingly that each time this occurs, there are incredibly heroic moments.
Derek Jeter achieved the iconic “Mr. November” title during the 2001 World Series. This was the first ever November baseball action. Although the Yankees lost to Arizona in seven, this was an epic series. Game 4 went to 10 innings, with the clock striking midnight as Jeter slugged a walk-off home run.
Perhaps the most memorable in recent years is the 2016 World Series against the Cubs and Indians. The series went seven games with both Games 6 and 7 played in November. Chicago ended their long-awaited World Series drought in epic fashion and Game 7 was one of the greatest games ever played.
The following year was another epic one finishing up in November. This affair was when the Astros faced the Dodgers. Although Houston cheated, the series went to seven games as well, with each team going back and forth. The Astros won that series on Nov. 1 of that year.
What does the 2022 World Series hold in terms of November heroics? With only two games played so far and the rest of the series in this current month, we could see some amazing stuff. The series is tied at one game apiece. Will Bryce Harper dethrone Jeter as “Mr. November”?
