DJ Moore Trade: Five Potential Landing Spots

The Carolina Panthers fired head coach Matt Rhule on Monday after an unimpressive tenure in Charlotte. As a result, trade rumors about the team’s top players are beginning to spread. One of those players is receiver D.J. Moore. Moore has not had the most productive season thus far but getting the 25-year-old out of Carolina could change that. Here are five teams that should inquire about adding Moore at the trade deadline.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are currently one of the best teams in the NFL and they are led by their terrific offense. At this point, the Chiefs trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins has been discussed ad nauseam. Nonetheless, Kansas City is currently looking at the perfect opportunity to recoup some of Hill’s lost production and bolster their wide receiver room.

Currently, the group is currently led by JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The addition of Moore could add another quality option among that group and help ease the heavy workload on Travis Kelce. That could pay dividends come the playoffs.

2. Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers find themselves in a similar position to the Chiefs. They too traded their top receiver, Davante Adams. As a result, the Packers looked to a multitude of options to fill Adams’ production. They signed Sammy Watkins, but he has been placed on IR. That leaves Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, Romeo Doubs, and Christian Watson as the Packers’ top receivers.

These guys have not played badly. Doubs seems like he can break out and become a quality player. Still, adding Moore would clearly upgrade this group. If the Packers want to be Super Bowl contenders this move should be considered.

3. Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have gotten out to a 3-2 start this season. The Ravens are clearly a run-first team, however, that does not mean that they could not use Moore. At the moment, tight end Mark Andrews is far-and-wide the team’s best pass catcher. Outside of that, Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay have been able to make plays.

With that being said, neither has provided the production that Moore could in Baltimore. If Moore becomes a Raven, he would instantly be moved to the top of the depth chart. Needless to say, a trio of Moore, Bateman and Duvernay is far more appealing than the current Bateman and Duvernay combo.

4. New York Giants

Are the New York Giants good? I honestly do not know. I do know that Brian Daboll is a great coach, and he has the Giants at 4-1. If the Giants want to continue to win games in 2022, they could use some receiver help. The Giants lost Sterling Shepard after he tore his ACL. Plus, Kenny Golladay, Wan’Dale Robinson and Kadarius Toney were all out with injuries against the Packers. Active receivers against the Packers included Richie James, Darius Slayton, David Sills and Marcus Johnson.

Clearly, Moore could solve some issues in New York. In fairness, the Giants may want to wait and see how the next few games go before making this move. If they keep winning, they should be more active in trying to add Moore.

5. Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are a sneaky team that may look to add Moore. Yes, Robert Woods has begun to look better, but outside of that things look bleak. Treylon Burks is on IR, which leaves Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Kyle Phillips as the team’s next-best receivers.

Man, this team could use some help at receiver. The AFC South looks winnable, and Moore could be the guy to help the Titians compete later in the year. He may not push them into title contention, but he would certainly add to this offense. A.J. Brown could have done that too, but that is the topic of another blog.
