Will The Ravens Really Trade Lamar Jackson?
If you ask one NFL insider about Lamar Jackson, he will tell you the former first round pick out of Louisville is as good as gone after the 2022-23 NFL Season. If you’re taking bets on what’s going to happen with Lamar, Jason La Canfora says you should bet on Baltimore trading Lamar prior to the 2023 NFL Draft.

“I wish the owner [Steve Bisciotti] liked, respected, and understood the changing dynamics of compensating quarterbacks that way that I do, and the way that most smart football people do, otherwise this would have been done when Josh Allen signed his deal before the start of two seasons ago,” La Canfora said during the radio segment. “But this owner doesn’t, and he won’t, and I don’t understand what the endgame is for Steve Bisciotti. If he truly thinks you gotta win a Super Bowl before I pay you what you’re worth [referencing Joe Flacco’s record-breaking 6-year, $120 million contract in 2013], then he’s out of his frickin’ mind.”
“If you don’t want to pay him what he’s worth, somebody else will, and if you want to give him $23 million fully guaranteed this year, and then $43-$44 million next year on the tag, then if you tag him after that at $52 million and then he walks, you can play that game, but I think Lamar Jackson will be traded before the draft next year.”

While it’s probably always wise to take these kind of reports with a grain of salt, I’m not sure you should. If Lamar wants to top the outlier Deshaun Watson deal and Baltimore is unwilling to full guarantee that type of deal, we could be looking at a real standoff. Also, keep in mind that La Canfora is really tapped into the Baltimore market. He’s about as well connected as anybody in that area.
I’ve started counting down the days. Lord help me when this day comes. Give me the strength to forgive the Ravens for wasting five years of my life. I hope I can find that strength within me to forgive them. It will be much easier to do so if Baltimore gets a big trade package back for him. Realistically, all the Ravens have to do is hit that bum with the tag and let the other teams drive up the bidding war.
I can’t wait until this bum is gone. Cannot wait. You have all been conned into thinking a more athletic Colin Kaepernick was going to bring me joy and happiness the way Joe Flacco did. In four NFL seasons, Lamar has one total playoff win. Flacco is 10-5 during his Ravens tenure when the games actually matter. You tell me who’s better?
Tick, tick, ticking time bomb. In a brutal AFC, the bottom line is Lamar will never keep pace with the likes of Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, or Joe Burrow. It’s just the reality of the situation. Do not pass go. Go straight to jail. Do not collect $200. That’s your life if you pay Lamar Jackson and no real Ravens fan wants that for their franchise. The good news is there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
