AEW Rampage Preview (7/1/22): New #1 Contender Set to Be Determined

AEW Rampage is coming off of Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts. A lot has happened this past week in AEW, and the momentum is not stopping now. Although this isn’t the biggest card we have seen on an episode of Rampage, it is still packed with action.

Nyla Rose vs Toni Storm

These are two of the top women in the division. Nyla Rose is the No. 1 ranked women’s wrestler, while Toni Storm is ranked third. Simply put, these two women do not like each other. Rosa helped Marina Shafir attack Storm after Shafir lost to her. Rose and Storm also have similar records in 2022. Rose is 9-1 in singles competition and Storm is 7-2. You have to assume that the winner of this match is going to go after the AEW Women’s Championship next. A win for Storm could vault her to the No. 1 ranked woman in the company, which should ultimately give her another shot at the title.

Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI vs The Young Bucks (c)

The Young Bucks called out Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI on this week’s Dynamite. They were complaining about how they had no friends in AEW since they are all hurt. The Bucks caught wind that Goto and HASHI wanted a shot at the Young Bucks. They granted them the match for AEW Rampage, but it is a non-title match. The Bucks said if they want a shot at the titles, they are going to have to prove they are worthy by beating the Young Bucks. Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI are former IWGP Heavyweight Tag-Team Champions. They dropped the titles to FTR at Forbidden Door last Sunday. This match should be a good one as these are some of the best tag-teams on the planet.

The Royal Rampage

This is the first time AEW has done the Royal Rampage match. The Royal Rampage is going to determine who the No. 1 contender is for the Interim AEW World Championship. The rules are simple: there are two rings next to each other, each has ten men in it and each ring will serve as its own battle royal. Once there are two men left, they will face each other with normal battle royal rules applied. This match features the likes of Orange Cassidy, Keith Lee, Powerhouse Hobbs, Hangman Page, Brody King, Penta Oscuro, plus more. It should be a good one and the winner will face Interim AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley, for the title.
