Patrick Mahomes is Getting Disrespected, and I Really Don’t Like It
The level of disrespect we’re seeing this offseason is insanity. Some people are seriously starting to doubt Patrick Mahomes just because he lost Tyreek Hill. They cite last season as an “off year” to show his decline is on the horizon. You know, because for Patrick Mahomes only making it to the AFC title game and not into the Super Bowl is a god-awful season. Let’s hit the brakes on this thing folks and remember who we’re talking about here. Mahomes is still that guy. I promise you.
Let me preface this with the fact that I’m not even a Patrick Mahomes fan. In fact, I’m a Brady guy. But above all, I’m a sensible and unbiased NFL fan and I know Mahomes is still going to be awfully good this year. If he’s healthy, the Chiefs will always be a threat in the playoffs and he will always be a contender for MVP. It’s just how it is. He isn’t going to magically fall off a cliff because he lost one really good receiver and his star tight end got a few months older. Mahomes said it himself and I’d bet he’s right. The production will come from other sources and the Chiefs offense will still be one of the most dangerous in the league.
The most frustrating part about all this slander is all the meaningless comparisons being made. Right now, Josh Allen and Justin Herbert are the only quarterbacks that comes close to Mahomes and Mahomes is still probably the best. I don’t want to see anyone talking about Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, and most definitely not Joe Burrow in the same breath as Patrick Mahomes.
I think it’s silly that I’ve even had to write this article in all honesty. Mahomes may not win a Super Bowl next year but I guarantee you he’ll still be the same old generational talent that he’s been the last few years. Just like Tua’s quarterback DNA will not change, neither will Mahomes’. Book it.
