Israel has a lot more to offer than its geopolitical position and beautiful cities; with 8 American Football teams competing with a major sponsor, it may be the next step in NFL’s international marketing expansion. Currently, approx. 170,000 Americans live in Israel with an upward trend every year of new American migrants. Statistics say 44% of male Americans on average are fans of the NFL with 40% of female Americans; out of those emigrating around an average of 44% of them are going to be following the league. After the NFL allowed home marketing for teams in different countries, such as Germany and China, that sparked a thought: where will they gain a foothold in the regions they haven’t touched yet? Maybe in a country that already has a large American population?
The Kraft family and Robert Kraft, who owns the New England Patriots currently is the NFL sponsor of the Israel Football League. There is also currently a major American Football Stadium in Israel, constructed in Jerusalem. This was sponsored and built by the Kraft Family in June of 2017. Advertising for the New England Patriots could already be taking place. The Kraft family is already practically promoting the NFL in Israel, so surely it won’t be long before others follow suit. Israel is a distant country, but that doesn’t mean other types of NFL expansion can’t take place. The IFL could gain more sponsors from the NFL for one, they could also sponsor other American Football Programs. Existing teams could easily advertise their games, and attract a larger audience. Israel is a country that is full of entrepreneurs who could be inspired to partner with any NFL efforts in marketing. Israel remains full of untapped potential in terms of marketing and could be an opportunity for franchise expansions in the league.
