Randall Cobb Re-signs With Packers

Wide receiver Randall Cobb will return to the Green Bay Packers. The deal is four years for $40 million dollars. While that may seem like a substantial amount of money it appears Cobb decided to take a hometown discount. Cobb set career highs with 91 catches, 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014. He was ready to become an unrestricted free agent prior to the new deal.

Nevertheless Cobb decided the additional money was not worth leaving Aaron Rodgers and company. Who could blame him really, an extra 3-5 million dollars a season was not worth leaving this historic organization. The trio of Cobb, Jordy Nelson, and Aaron Rodgers will remain under contract through 2018.

The next task on Green Bay’s plate will be to re-sign right tackle Bryan Bulaga. The Packers offensive line is a thin group so losing Bulaga could be a huge blow. General Manager Tedd Thompson is one of the leagues best, always finding a way to convince players to take hometown discounts. The Packers will hold the 30th pick in this years draft with needs at tight end, offensive line, defensive line, and inside linebacker.
