The Philadelphia Eagles are heavily invested in the quarterback position with Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel, and Carson Wentz all vying for the starting job. However when it comes to the rookie from North Dakota State Carson Wentz, Philly wants to be patient.
The Following From Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice Staff:
“It’s very clear the Eagles want to be extremely patient with Wentz, a player they view as the long term centerpiece of the franchise, but not in any way some kind of short term fix.
Even if Bradford gets hurt, count on pricey backup Chase Daniel to take over the reins as the starter. There’s a very good chance Wentz won’t even dress on game day, as teams typically only keep two quarterbacks active”.
Now this plan sounds wonderfully and all but if and when Sam Bradford struggles it remains to be seen whether Chase Daniel will actually be next in line. The last time a sort of redshirt season was implemented for a quarterback was Blake Bortles and that lasted until week 3. The last time a true redshirt season was implemented was Carson Palmer’s rookie season with the Bengals as Jon Kitna held the job for the 2003 season.
