Jimmy Garoppolo Has Become Incredibly Underrated
Jimmy Garoppolo is a good quarterback. You just can’t find a single person that’s willing to admit that right now. Last year was a tough for everybody in San Francisco and now Trey Lance was drafted to become his replacement. Garoppolo may not have a future in San Fran but that doesn’t mean his playing days are over.
Garoppolo is far from perfect but he’s now the most underrated quarterback in the NFL. Jimmy G leads the NFL in handsomeness (if that’s even a word). Garoppolo, 29, is completing 67.5% of his throws and has a record of 24-8. QB record is far from a perfect stat but with a mark that impressive, it has to mean a little something.
Garoppolo doesn’t blow you away with athleticism or arm power, but he gets the ball out on time and in rhythm. Jimmy G is one of the most accurate quarterbacks in football. He’s the closest thing we have to Tony Romo since he retired.
What’s the deal with the Jimmy G hate? The guy missed one throw in the Super Bowl and now he stinks? NOPE. Bad take, chief. If San Francisco’s defense played the way Tampa’s did, Garoppolo is a Super Bowl champion. Not a fluky champion either and way more credible than a Dilfer type winner. That 2019 season, Garoppolo was clearly a top 10 quarterback in the league.
How many quarterbacks would you take over Jimmy Garoppolo right now? Maybe a fair share but let’s not pretend like the guy sucks. Hell, Kirk Cousins still continues to get the bag while his best case scenario continues to be 8-8 with a pretty good roster supporting him. What are we doing here? I still ride with Jimmy G.
