Collin Sexton: Teams That Need To Make A Trade Offer

Collin Sexton

The Cleveland Cavaliers have made it clear that Collin Sexton is “very available” this offseason. The young guard is coming off the best season of his career, averaging 24.3/3.1/4.4 splits at just 22 years old. These numbers make him a coveted acquisition for a variety of teams willing to make a strong offer. Why the Cavs are willing to move on from him, I do not know, but these are a few teams that should offer deals for Sexton.

New York Knicks

The Knicks have been searching for a point guard for a long time. Derrick Rose was a sparkplug coming off the bench but struggled when he had to start in their playoff series against the Hawks. Elfrid Payton never really got anything going all season, and Frank Ntilikina has been a disappointment since he was drafted. Sexton would provide similar scoring alongside Rose at the point guard position while also fitting New York’s timeline with RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, Immanuel Quickley, and Obi Toppin.

Philadelphia 76ers

This one may seem out there, but Ben Simmons should be out of Philly as soon as possible. His offensive playstyle does not fit with the 76ers nor in the modern NBA and Sexton can provide the offensive punch Simmons lacks while still capable of facilitating for Joel Embiid. In short, Sexton’s skillset on the offensive side of the ball would do wonders for a squad that struggled to create shots in clutch moments.

Los Angeles Lakers

Dennis Schroder’s playoff performance was nothing short of disastrous and the Lakers need an immediate fix. Playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis will create space and mismatches for Sexton. James needs shooting on his teams, and the addition of Sexton, who shot 37% from three last season, would alleviate the issue.

Whoever does end up trading for Collin Sexton will get an offensive presence who can find the open guy and knock down open threes. A lot of people complain that he is an empty scorer, but his defense and his playmaking have improved over the past few seasons. I think he can turn some heads if he ends up in a better situation than Cleveland.
