Is Corey Davis A Fantasy Sleeper With The Jets?

The Jets have essentially overhauled their roster in an effort to become relevant again. New York dropped the proverbial bag to land Corey Davis this offseason. Davis is mostly a one year wonder but finds himself as the de facto number one receiver with the Jets. Will that translate to fantasy success?

Let me first state I don’t love Corey Davis the talent. He should have never been a top 10 draft pick. Picking that high was an egregious decision. However, I don’t want to pretend the guy can’t play at all. In a run heavy offense with the Titans, Davis 65 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns this past season.

Zach Wilson could easily become a franchise quarterback but it’s hard to love, love him as a rookie out of the shoot. The Jets are probably pegged for last place again. BUT… there should be plenty of throwing opportunities for this offense. OR should I say more than what Tennessee had a year ago.

The interesting part will be projecting Davis’ target share. In Tennessee, there weren’t actually a ton of mouths to feed. It was mostly the AJ Brown and Jonnu Smith show. With the Jets, there are some bodies here. Elijah Moore, Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder, and Keelan Cole all exist. I just can’t see Davis running away with the target share.

Having said that, Davis feels like more of a pass unless the price is cheap, cheap. The Jets are a hindrance enough but nothing Davis has done suggests there’s untapped potential here. From a fantasy perspective, outside of the long term play on Elijah Moore, I’m not sure I’m in on any Jets’ WR fantasy options.
