Carl Nassib Has Announced He Is Gay During Pride Month

Carl Nassib has announced that he is gay. He becomes the first ever active gay player in the NFL. Nassib has announced this via IG, it was also reported by Adam Schefter via Twitter.

Raiders DL Carl Nassib became the first active NFL player to announce he is gay. “What’s up people,” Nassib posted on IG. “I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I’m gay. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now but finally feel comfortable getting it off my chest.”

Carl Nassib will be the first active gay player in the NFL. While Michael Sam was the first gay player drafted in the NFL in 2014. He had not played in any regular season games, dismissing him from being an active NFL player. 7 years later, we do have an openly gay player in the NFL. Nassib has played in the NFL for 5 years now. Since being drafted by the Browns in 2016, he has played in 73 total games for the Browns, the Buccaneers, and now currently for the Raiders. He has started in 37 of those games.
